Did you have a good Christmas? We did! Even though we were away from our family in Texas, we still managed to have a very nice Christmas. On Monday, Chris and I cleaned out our office and two downstairs closets. We feel like we got so much accomplished! We've had those two things on our project list for a VERY LONG TIME. We still have a few more projects left to go, but nothing to major! Hopefully we can get them done this weekend since we're off Friday-Wednesday. On Christmas Day, we woke up late and Chris made yummy breakfast burritos...can you tell we're from Texas??? We went to the IMAX Theater at Mall of GA and watched I AM LEGEND on the big screen. It was really good...sad, but good. After we left we drove to the fire station where our friend Rob works and he helped us get Eva's car seat properly installed...another thing we can check off the list! We came home and ate dinner and then headed off to the Dawsonville movie theater to see National Treasure 2, also very good. My brother spent Monday-Wednesday with us and it was really nice to have him around. He and Chris get along really well, which I guess they should considering they've known each other for almost 17 years! I gave Chris a remote control helicopter, so that gave he and Jeff something to play with over the holidays!
I also had my 37 week and 2 day doctors appointment today. Can you believe I only have 19 days until my due date? Very weird. Anyways, the doctor checked me out ******If you're a guy, you might not want to read this.****** and said that I am 2 centimeters dilated and 50% effaced. Her head is down and in the ready position, but still up in the birth canal. So that's good, but it doesn't really mean much. I could go in to labor anytime. His guess is as good as mine! I did create an address book on my computer for Chris to send out an email once we know anything, so we'll keep you posted! My next appointment is on Wednesday. That is of course, if I make it until then!!!
Happy New Year!
We had our 36 week doctor appointment today as well as our ultrasound. Everything looks really good! My fluid levels are good and she's growing right on schedule. They think she weighs about 5 lbs. 12 ounces now. So if I go full term, she'll probably be in the 7 lb. range. She has really chubby cheeks and her nose has morphed more into looking something like mine and Chris' nose combined! The doctor said that if I haven't delivered by Jan. 20, they'll induce. So at least I can see the light at the end of the tunnel:) Only four more weeks to go!
We're counting the days around here...only 33 days to go until January 14! Can you believe it? We're so close!
I had my 35 week doctors appointment today. I went back to measuring 2 1/2 weeks behind so they want to do an ultrasound on Monday. The doctor said he feels like my fluids are fine, but he just wants to double check to make sure she's growing ok. He thinks she's just probably going to be a small baby (which is not necessarily a bad thing when it comes to giving birth!!!). I only gained a pound, but he didn't seem too concerned about that. Total weight gain is 13 pounds (I was a pound off somewhere in my calculations.) I really hope everything is ok with Eva, but I am secretly glad that we get to have another ultrasound:) I keep telling Chris that I really want to see what she looks like. I guess I'll get to on Monday!
Anyways, we would appreciate your prayers that everything would be good with baby Eva! More to come on Monday!
A lot has happened since I posted last!
First, two weeks ago, I flew to Texas early for Thanksgiving because my very good friend Kassie was throwing me a baby shower. Most of the people we invited were from the church that Chris and I grew up in and where my Dad is the pastor. Everyone was so sweet and gracious. We got so many cute things! Here's a few pictures.
Chris drove to Texas with the dogs:) the Monday before Thanksgiving (I know...what a trooper!) and we spent the holidays with my parents and his. It was really good to see our family again and hard to imagine that the next time we see them, we'll have a baby!
Today was my shower at work. I had really been looking forward to this for a long time! Since we go to church at the same place we work, we have developed so many good friendships with many of our co-workers. Five girls I work with (Angela, Stephanie, Carrie, Shae, and Toni) threw me the shower and it turned out awesome! I LOVED the decor and the food. It was just my style! I really appreciate all their hard work and effort to make it special.
Last, I had my 33 week check-up yesterday and everything looks really good! I'm measuring about a week behind but they don't seem as concerned as last time. All the Thanksgiving food caught up with me because I gained 4 lbs. in three weeks. Total weight gain is 11 lbs. Not too bad considering I only have 7 weeks left to go!
I know I've said this many times, but Chris and I feel so blessed and overwhelmed by everyone's generosity. We are so rich in our friendships and we are so thankful to be surrounded by people who love us!
Is anyone still out there???? It's been WAY too long since my last post! So sorry:) We've been super busy these last couple of weeks. I was going to wait to post until we had some new pictures of the nursery, but we haven't gotten around to taking any, so I guess I'll just go ahead and post!
Things are coming along good with the pregnancy. I had a doctors appointment last Friday and everything seems to be going well. I've gained two pounds, so I'm finally back to my original weight that I weighed at my first OB appointment at 9 weeks. Total weight gain at 31 weeks is 7 lbs. Not too bad...although I feel like I've gained 5 lbs. since Friday!!!!!! The glucose test came back negative which is great news! In fact he said it was low which put me at a low risk for ever developing diabetes. I am really thankful and kind of surprised considering my Dad has diabetes. He did mention that I was measuring two weeks behind, but said he would remeasure at my next doctors appointment after Thanksgiving. He didn't seem too worried, so I decided that I'm not going to worry!
The bad news...Milo (our furbaby) has been sick for the last two weeks. We weren't exactly sure what was wrong with him. He would yelp and cry like he was in pain and wouldn't climb stairs, jump up on the furniture, or play outside. After FIVE visits to the vet (can you hear the dollar signs???) they finally determined that he has patellar luxation. Basically, his knee cap slips out of socket and locks up which causes pain. It requires surgery with an eight week recovery time...just about the time baby Eva will be arriving!!! How convenient!! Anyway, the surgery is extremely expensive, so we're taking up an offering at church this Sunday:) JK:)
Chris and I have a lot to be thankful for this season! I'm so glad we'll be getting to see our family soon! Hope you enjoy your holiday next week and I promise more pictures of the nursery soon!
I had my VERY FIRST baby shower yesterday! It was so great! All the girls in my small group (Erin, Courtney, Candace and Rachael) did a wonderful job getting everything together. Rachael's house was decorated so cute with pink and green! The girls had thought about everything from food, to games, to a corsage, to the guest book. I can't believe how much work they put in to everything. I got some great items, almost all from my registry (yea!). I am definitely feeling much more equipped for Eva's arrival (in just 12 weeks!). We've also been working on the nursery and bought her dresser and nightstand this weekend. I'll post pictures of that later...we've still got some cleaning up to do! For now, enjoy a few pictures of the shower!
Today we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. Chris was in charge of planning the day, so I was anxious to see what we were going to do. Of course, he had to turn the whole day in to a surprise! I don't like surprises, but today was really good. He began the day by making pancakes for breakfast (yummy!). Chris left and took my car to get a bath. We got ready and left around 11:30 and headed south. Chris took me to this great Taqueria called Tin Lizzy's in Buckhead. For those of you out there who know us well, you know we LOVE us some Mexican food! It was SOOOO good. I thought for many weeks I had lost my appetite for good, but IT'S BACK! If you go, you have to try the chips with queso and guacamole. Mmmmm....
One funny anecdote...we left the camera in the car, so Chris offered to go get it. He came back and we took two quick pictures. When we stood up he said, "I've got good news and bad news." I'm like, "Ok, what?" "Bad news is when I went out to the car, there was a boot on the tire. Good news is, it's already taken off." Yah, they put a boot on our car for parking in the wrong parking lot. Fifty dollars later...Oh well, I guess we're making memories here!
We headed south again and I wasn't sure where we were going. We ended up at IKEA and I was so excited! I've been wanting to buy Eva's dresser for awhile and had mentioned going to get it next weekend when my Mom was here. However, today, I was thinking, "It would be cool if Chris took me to IKEA today to get her dresser. But I'l just let him plan today." So I didn't even mention it. I guess he's just some kind of mind reader. Comes with being married to me for the last five years! When we got to IKEA, they had signs out and people redirecting traffic because the store was closed due to "technical difficulties". Not sure what the technical difficulties were, but they gave us a coupon good for next weekend, so I guess we will go back when my Mom is here and get her dresser. I wasn't disappointed though because all of you who know me well know how much I LOVE COUPONS!!!!
So we made a detour to the new Target at Atlantic Station to look around. We're looking for a duvet for our bedroom, but ended up in the baby section. We got a couple of things for Eva and had to get out before we spent too much money!
When we got back to the car, Chris said he wanted to take me to the jewelry store to look for an anniversary gift. We headed to the mall and looked around for awhile. At the last jewelry store (of about 6-7 we had been too already) we found this BEAUTIFUL diamond necklace. It has five diamonds in it to comemerate our fifth anniversary:) Chris picked it out and I really love it!
Our last stop was for dinner at this restaurant in Crabapple called Milton's. It's kind of fancy southern cuisine. Again, very tasty. And a great way to top off our evening together!
Overall, we had a fabulous anniversary. Chris is so thoughtful and loving. I couldn't wish for a better life or a better husband.
